Tapas is regarded as Spain's national cuisine. Tapa, meaning top or cap, is a bite sized portion of food that usually accompanies a beer or glass of wine. Most bars have a variety of Tapas on the counter, most will include Chorizo sausage, Tortilla, Patatas Bravas (Potatoes in a garlic mayonnaise), Empanadas (similar to a pie) and croquetas. A single serving usually costs between one fifty to three Euros. Of course you don't always have to indulge in Spanish cuisine. There comes a time when Jamon y Tortilla bocadillos, with a side complement of olives becomes a little mundane. Especially when there is so much available in the way of international cuisine throughout Spain. |

| During the day many restaurants offer a three course set menu, menu del dia, for between seven and fifteen Euros. Not usually the finest food on offer, but it's still excellent value. At a good restaurant you should expect to pay between eighteen and thirty Euros for a good meal. |
